Clark Fork Valley Ambulance started out in 1974 as a Quick Response Unit, this allowed crew members to respond to the patient but not transport them to the hospital. At that time the lone transport agency in the Sandpoint area doubled as a tow truck company as well.
In 1977 Clark Fork Ambulance became a transport agency within the State of Idaho, our parameters were from Trestle Creek to the Montana border and the valley in between. Various Grants, community fundraisers and supporters have made this service feasible to offer to our community.
In 2000, again through volunteers and contributions, the ambulance built a station to house the ambulances and support the many efforts, training, storage and business functions required to maintain the ambulance services.
Through the years the ambulance has upgraded our certification, allowing additional, more advanced patient care, added a second CFVA ambulance which is now stored at Sam Owen Fire so that a crew might respond more quickly to the Hope area. We are continually training our 15 EMTs, advancing our abilities through training and new equipment.
We welcome new members to join and will continue to diligently serve our community.
